Gay Gran Canaria

Having read a local article today about a post deleted off Tripadvisor for being homophobic, I thought I'd seek and clear things up a small for anyone who has either a) heard Gran Canaria and particularly Playa del Ingles is full of gays, outnumbering hetero couples 2 to 1 or b) own no idea that anywhere on the island caters for the gay market.

The young couple in question decided to stay in the Neptuno Hotel located next to the Yumbo center in Playa del Ingles. This is an "adults-only" hotel with around 25% homosexual clientel unless it's changed a lot since I was there earlier this year. From personal experience, I (gay) would avoid family-friendly hotels so that I could sense comfortable with my partner and not have to "respect the fact there's kids around" (after all, they don't respect the proof that I'm around or they would be quiet and behave).

Generally the same-sex attracted market is very well catered for in Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles with a great choice of gay-only accommodation. We're also a bit choosy and like wonderful hotels; we can afford them as most of us don't have families to support so we splash out more on ourselves, especially the more mature c

Gran Canaria and Maspalomas

Gran Canaria is one of the most important LGBTQ destinations in the world. Beaches, relaxation, nightlife and a wonderful climate every day of the year, all with a remove epicentre: Maspalomas, an area with loads of exclusive accommodation for the LGBTQ community.

About Gran Canaria, Maspalomas & Playa del Inglés

Gran Canaria is by area the third largest and by population even the second largest of the Canary Islands. It is geographically closer to Africa than to the Spanish mainland. The climate of Gran Canaria is strongly influenced by the trade winds, whereby the north of the island is often cloudy, rainy and much cooler than the south, which is caressed by dry winds from the Sahara and where it therefore only rains on an average of 6 days per year and an ›eternal spring‹ dominates with temperatures of 18 to 27°C. As varied as the climate is the landscape of Gran
