JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a massive familiar name in Japan and recently took over the West thanks to the stellar anime adaptation. The magnum opus by Hirohiko Araki is filled with creative and unusual powers, larger-than-life characters, compelling and legendary narratives, and, unexpectedly, a beautiful cast with plenty of ethnic and gay representation. There are several confirmed homosexual or queer-coded characters throughout the s

On Saturday, 17-year-old social media sensation JoJo Siwa confirmed that yes, indeed, her “Born This Way” lip sync and new Gay Cousin t-shirt was intended to convey her membership in the LGBTQ+ community. She has yet to select a specific label but it does seem certain that the announcement represented her sexual orientation rather than her gender, as she has since clarified, “I always believed that my person was just going to be my person. And if that person happened to be a boy, excellent, and if that person happened to be a young woman, great!” Her announcement has been greeted with incredible fanfare from stars including Todrick Hall, Lil Nas X, Ellen DeGeneres, Paris Hilton, Snooki from “Jersey Shore,” the band Smash Mouth, Trixie Mattel and Jack Remmington. My personal fave Rosie O’Donnell gave JoJo a little congrats on TikTok, telling her: “So brave, so bold. So satisfied of you, so moved by you. You’re so super-duper talented, kiddo. Fine for you.” In true elder dyke fashion, Rosie O’Donnell’s affirmation was the moment in which I personally decided it was moment for me to investigate all of the hullabaloo around this

JoJo Siwagot candid about her identity.

The Dance Moms alum—who came out as a lesbian in 2021 but now identifies as queer—detailed impact the common had on her coming out journey and feeling the need to label herself amid her modern romance with Chris Hughes.

"When I came out at 17, I said, 'I’m pansexual, because I don’t care [about gender],'" JoJo said in an interview with The Daily Mail published June 20. "But then I kind of boxed myself in and I said, 'I’m a lesbian.' And I consider I did that because of the pressure."

As for where that pressure came from, the 22-year-old pointed to several different factors, including the LGBTQ society at large.

"In a weird way, I think it came a little bit from inside the society at times," she pondered. "From people I realize , from partners I’ve had. You just get place in this world where you feel like, because you now have said, 'Oh, I'm a lesbian,' you have to be a lesbian. And th

JoJo Siwais happy to know herself better.

Though the “Karma” singer used to self-identify as a lesbian since coming out in 2021, she discovered through her new romance with Big Brother UK castmate Chris Hughesthat she now aligns with a different letter of the LGBTQIA+ alphabet.

“I think the most lovely term now is queer,” JoJo exclusively told E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “I think queer is an umbrella of, ‘Look, I'm just me.’ And I consider the most beautiful thing about the LGBTQIA community is care for is love. And that goes both ways.”

She added, “There's loads of beautiful, different sexualities. Sexuality and queerness is a beautiful rainbow that has all unlike places, and it also has places on this rainbow that we don't even know remain yet.”

And for any critics out there, JoJo—whose relationship with Australian influencer Kath Ebbsended at the Big Brother UK afterparty in April—feels the same as she did when she came out at 17: She doesn’t contain to explain herself.

“I feel so in the right position for myself. I
